So, I fixed up most of the issues by reformatting my HDD and installing a fresh copy of linux over it and cleaned out the dust from my HDD (I think) and not necessarily in that order. Everything is working fine (so far), but I was wondering whether I should replace my hard drive since it's a few years old now. I did Google it, but I don't really trust the information, so I was looking for your opinion.

Heh. I'm still using my 3.5 year old HDD. My old old computer's still using its IDE ones...As of the dropping of HDD prices, I'd say wait a bit. It was high from around last year, but I kinda think it's slowly dropping.

But speed of HDD will eventually slow down and other stuff...performance-wise.

I don't know what you Googled...what is "it"?

As long as certain files on the HDD don't crash, you can still use it, but, as Suizide stated, it will slow down, performance-wise.
