I think I broke my everything.

Okay, so I've had my shitteh laptop for a while (about 5 years) and it's starting to fall apart (both figuratively and literally) and I was wondering if anyone had any tips/fixes that are cheap and easy to perform with a screw-driver and a brain.

Here is a list of problems I have:
The computer crashes regularly (the screen not only freezes but whatever image was being viewed splinters into weird coloured bars.
The computer keeps restarting
The touchpad randomly stops working when I start up.
Having performace issues.

What I'm running:
1.99GHz Dual-core
2GB of RAM
500GB of HDD
Intergrated graphics card
Running the latest Linux OS (Yes, I use [insert linux insult] but I needed linux's low running usage to actually use my laptop. Since windows was essentially too much of a load for my laptop to handle...)

Did you accidentally the whole thing?

Throw it in the garbage where it belongs and get a desktop.

The first 2 could be heat related, have you ever cleaned it? Make sure the drivers are up to date as well.

Fix registry, clean all the fans/vents out with an air hose, apply peanut butter to your internet vent, etc
Just Google how to speed up your PC. If it's legit, it doesn't actually speed anything up, it just reverses some of the gradual degradation you've caused over time.

@OP, you should probably clean the dust out. be careful not touch anything unnecessary or else you'll risk reformatting your RAM, thus erasing your graphics card. then, you'll need to download your graphics card all over again.

If you have a physical deformity you should be dead.

If you have an injury that makes you unable to write, chances are you cant type either.

Typing doesn't require nearly as much motor control as writing. If you crush your hand or some shit chances are you'll lose a degree of precision even though it's healed.
