Internet Explorer Users Have Below Average IQs
Are users of other Web browsers smarter than the people who use Microsoft's Internet Explorer?
A new survey doesn't quite say so. But it sure as heck suggests it.
The survey by AptiQuant, a Vancouver-based Web consulting company, gave more than 100,000 participants an IQ test, while monitoring which browser they used to take the test.
The result? Internet Explorer users scored lower than average, while Chrome, Firefox and Safari users were slightly above average.
And users of the more obscure Camino and Opera browsers, as well as those using Explorer with Chrome Frame (a plug-in designed to let users view emerging HTML5 content), had what AptiQuaint called "exceptionally higher" IQ levels.
Those numbers, it should be noted, probably aren't very scientific. The field of test-takers was self-selecting -- people who chose, on their own, to take an IQ test instead of a scientifically selected study group. They found the test through Web searches or ads the company placed online.
The report suggests that people using Explorer, the built-in, default browser for Windows-based computers, may be more resistant to change. A similar study in 2006 showed users on the then-current IE browser scored above average.
Internet Explorer is the world's most popular browser, with about a 43% share, according to StatCounter. Firefox has just under 30%, and Google's Chrome has 19%, according to a report from May.
Users of Internet Explorer 6, released in 2001, scored the lowest on the tests, at just over 80. Users of Opera, the Norway-based browser, scored the highest at well over 120. (What AptiQuant called its complete results included a bar graph showing the scores, but didn't appear to have text giving the exact numbers.)
IQ scores have a "population mean" of 100.
If this all smacks of a little good, old-fashioned Microsoft hate, the language the company uses in its report doesn't do much to downplay that.
"It is common knowledge that Internet Explorer Versions 6.0 to 8.0 are highly incompatible with modern web standards. In order to make websites work properly on these browsers, web developers have to spend a lot of unnecessary effort ...," said the report from AptiQuant, which offers online tools for employers to measure employee, and potential employee, aptitude.
"Now that we have a statistical pattern on the continuous usage of incompatible browsers, better steps can be taken to eradicate this nuisance."

Re: Internet Explorer Users Have Below Average IQs
This is partially due to the fact that a lot of IE users are old people who would score significantly lower on an IQ test than they could have a few years ago.

Lol. There's nothing wrong with ie9. It's because other browsers have more issues, and need for users to fix them...
Lol. I actually don't know...

Re: Internet Explorer Users Have Below Average IQs
From what I've read on this study, literally none of the conclusions can be interpreted for any sort of result.
When conducting a statistical study such as this, there are tons of prerequisites that must be met before the study can even begin, and if even just one fails, the validity of the study plummets.
The sample is not random at all, all of the sample is voluntary. There is no defined population, or sample for the matter. Its just "people" who use browsers. Variables such as age or demographics aren't taken into account, which can be huge. There could be a majority of 15-25 year olds taking this survey, but then a small percentage of 60+ who all use IE, and are skewing the data.
TL:DR THIS STUDY IS BULLSHIT STATISTICALLY

Desktop came with IE. I don't really care if it's crap. If I can get my work done, then I'll leave it be.

Hi guys.
I quit it for awhile because it had some compatibility issues with the Combat Arms webpage. But I re-installed it earlier this week. Honestly it's a great web browser. It may not be as fast as the others, but the way it's formatted and the features that come with it make it a great application. I need kips to mess around with it to make it faster lmao.

Re: Internet Explorer Users Have Below Average IQs
my 2c:
IE: shit slow and should be reserved for teh lazies or the people who don't go on the computer much [PPL WITH LIVEZZZZZ]
Firefox: As it comes right out of the download, isn't that great but it has a lot of room to be customized and a lot of applications that can be used to make it faster, more secure, etc. If you are willing to put in the time to research and customize, it can be argued that it is the best internet browser.
Chrome: Easiest to customize and really user friendly. Right out of the download it is by far the fastest and the most secure, but there isn't a lot of room to improve it. FF will surpass it given the user puts in the time, but a lot of users aren't willing to. Chrome [IMO] is the best browser for people who just want to use the internet casually at a speed more/less consistent with their internet connection. The only issue I've really found is the menus take a little getting used to at first, but I'm stupid.
Other browsers: IDK CUZ I R NUBCAKE
